I'm guilty of feeding my 14-month-old her finger food right off the table at a restaurant. Is it gross? Yes, but we've all done it at some point (Come on, admit it. I won't judge :). This place mat ties up into a compact little roll to toss in your bag and bring along when you go out to eat. It even has a pocket for some little silverware. No more worries about how clean the table is before you sit down to enjoy your meal.
Head on over to Liberate Creativity for the full tutorial.

What a cute mat - cute enough for adults to use :)
Oh it's gorgeous Gwen! And a very good idea too!
Great tutorial! I also let my kid eat off the tables and (shhhhh) really don't feel that guilty about it! But I'd love to make one of these anyway... Cute and functional!
So guilty! Love the tutorial. Especially the detailed instructions about how to *correctly* finish the edges with bias tape... my cheater method never works out well!

I saw this over at Craft Gossip and I thought...well that's the cutest thing ever! Then I saw who made it, and I thought...of course! Lo-ove this!
Great tutorial! I never get my corners looking that good- but will have to try your instructions! This is a great idea- I've been there with my kid eating off of the restaurant table.
