Scrappy Pin Cushion - It's My Party Day 3

Welcome to the third day of It’s My Party and I’ll Craft if I Want To!

BdayButton
Amy (from Ameroonie Designs) and I are celebrating our birthdays all week by sharing projects that we made just for us. Monday I shared my 241 tote bag. Yesterday I shared my patchwork camera strap cover. Today I’m sharing my scrappy pin cushion/organizer.

This is by far my favorite project from this week. I combined two different pin cushions to make this. I used the weighted pin cushion organizer tutorial from Elizabeth of Oh, Fransson! (on Sew, Mama, Sew) for the basic pin cushion, pocket panel, and scrap bucket. Then, inspired by this pin cushion I saw on Canoe Ridge Creations, I pieced together the top of my pin cushion.

I love how colorful it is.

The construction of the pin cushion/pocket/bucket is relatively simple, and Elizabeth’s tutorial is great. The piecing on the top of the pin cushion took a little figuring out because I didn’t have a tutorial to follow, just pictures. I had to think through each step. I’m really happy with how it turned out.

I used a special button to attach the scrap bucket to the pin cushion. I bought a few of these buttons from a pottery booth at a Christmas fair. They’re actually made by my sister-in-law’s aunt, and I love them. I hadn’t used any of them until this project.

Hands down my favorite project of the week and a lot of fun to put together. I'm so happy with this project.

Make sure you check out Amy’s pin cushion today over on Ameroonie Designs. We followed the same tutorial, and I love seeing her take on the same project…

Stay tuned for one more project tomorrow and the great giveaways on both blogs Friday. Thanks for stopping by today!

Thanks for posting this. It's definitely going on my "things to do" list. I made something similar a while back, but it wasn't as cute and didn't have the little utility pocket on it, which IMO makes yours uber-useful. (Oh, did I say yours is super cute? Consider it said!)

Sweet pincushion (more like a sewing-station extravaganza)! Both versions are so pretty and colourful!

I LOVE this pin cushion. I need a larger pin cushion and I think I need to just make a larger one! I’d love if you stop by Sew Woodsy and link this project up!

This is yummy! Love how your pincushion matches your banner. I always love to see how people use the same pattern and have their very own way of making it!

Hi Gwen. I'm new to your blog after seeing you on who am I. I've seen a similar concept before but this is the cutest one I've ever seen! I love your colors and can't wait to make one myself (along with the other 50 thousand projects on my want-to-do list). Thanks for sharing it. I'm looking forward to following your blog.
Have a wonderful weekend. Hugs...Tracy :)

P.S. I'd love you to stop by and visit my blog sometime. I have a couple of giveaways and one ends Sunday.
