I wanted something handmade to add to the goody bags. There were three little girls at the party, and this is what I made for them...
The fabric is called Hello Kitty Flowers and Foxes. It's so cute. I used a permanent fabric pen to write each of the girls' names in the bottom right corner on the other side of the pouch. They really seemed to like them.
Now for my nephews. Knowing that they probably would not want a Hello Kitty zipper pouch, I went over to Ameroonie Designs and used Amy's little wallet tutorial to make these little gray wallets...
They loved the little pockets inside. These were really easy to make, too.
I used a rubber stamp and some fabric paint to add their initial to the flap.
On to the cake. Prior to this year I have made cupcakes for every one of my daughter's birthdays, but this year she wanted a cake. I went ahead and bought the Hello Kitty cake pan, and this was the result...
I forgot her whiskers! I didn't even realize it until we were back in Connecticut and I looked through the pictures from the party. No one else noticed, either, so I guess it didn't really matter :)
I also made a "Pin The Bow on Hello Kitty" game. I found a black and white image of Hello Kitty online, blew it up, printed it, and glued it onto a piece of foam core. I then printed the bows directly onto different colored pieces of construction paper and cut them out. The kids had a good time with this one, and the grandmothers played along, too :)
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. It has been really nice to slow down and spend less time blogging and more time playing with and enjoying the girls. I got an amazing new camera lens that I'll tell you about in a couple of weeks. It has been so fun to play around with, and I finally feel like I'm getting a handle on how to use my camera after six months of owning it.
I also want to let everyone know about a really neat series that is starting on Monday over on My Own Road. Jen will be hosting Button Down Rehab, a two-week series sharing some great tutorials from some talented bloggers who will be creating new things out of old button down shirts. (And you just may see me over there guest posting during the second week :)
Have a great weekend everyone!
I'm linking up...

Just saw your comment on my Hello Kitty party post. Your pouches turned out so cute! (as did your cake & pin the bow game). Such a fun party theme, huh? :)
Everything came together so nicely, Gwen. Wishing you a lovely weekend.

The pouches and the wallets are fabulous! I love that they are personalized. Seriously that cake is amazing! I love the theme, it looks like the party was wonderful!
Okay, I just have to say: Hello Kitty is the BOMB. :] Love it!
Love your cute zipper pouches and wallets. Too too cute. Your cake turned out so good too. I didn't notice the whiskers until you said something. So cute Gwen. I love the whole thing. What a lucky daughter :)
What a great idea to do Pin the Bow on Hello Kitty!! It turned out so cute!
What fun party ideas! I love the purses and wallets. I suppose you could always just put a few licorice strings on for whiskers..little kids don't generally like them though unless you put on raspberry laces..they'd like them better.
Very cute, I love the little pouches; adorable! My daughter loved hello kitty when she was little too.
Your cake looks awesome too!!! I am afraid what my cake would look like if I tried that!!

I can't believe you made that cake! it looks like it came from a high end bakery - I did not even notice the missing whiskers. Great job on this and all of the Hello Kitty details - the pouches turned out so well, sometime small sewing can be fussy. Great use of licensed fabric - you know how much I love Hello Kitty fabric. What a special birthday for daughter! Have a great weekend. K
Absolutely adorable- all of it. The cake is amazing. What a lot of patience! I made an Elmo cake once. Red frosting is NOT my friend. ;) Thanks for the link back on the wallet. I am always thrilled when my tutorial works. ;)
xoxo,
Amy
The goody bags are wonderful! The cake is so cute. I used to get my girls nearly every "Hello Kitty" thing I could find. They loved her! Well done. Whiskers are over-rated anyway...I can't decorate cakes so I appreciate anyone who can!
My daughter just turned four, too! She too loves Hello Kitty. I love the little pouches. They are adorable! Such a cute theme!
OK..adorable on the hello kitty and quite manly on the boy wallets... wonderful as always! xo
The pouches are too cute and the wallets for the boys is such a great idea, too! I totally didn't notice the absent whiskers until you mentioned it - very good job on the cake!!
Hi! I am planning a Hello Kitty party for my daughters 4th birthday. I was wondering if you could tell me where you found the Hello Kitty image and bow image for the pin the bow on Hello Kitty...I've been looking and can't seem to find one like yours. {oh, and the bags you made are super cute!} Thanks!
