Remember Chris's Love Where You Live Ornament that she shared during Haul Out the Holly? I loved that idea, and I knew right away that I had to make one. But instead of making a "love where you live" hoop, I made a "love where you got married" hoop as a Christmas gift for my brother-in-law and sister-in-law who got married out in Michigan in September...
Chris's tutorial is so great, and this was a really fun project to put together. I used a small 4" hoop, and I used purple fabric for the state cutout because that was one of their wedding colors.
The most difficult part was figuring out how to put Michigan back together after I had the two pieces cut out :)
This would make a great wedding gift, too. And it doesn't have to be a Christmas ornament... it can be hung on the wall year-round. I'll say it again... love this idea!
I can't believe I'm still sharing Christmas gifts and it's February 1st! I also can't believe that my baby is turning two this week. More on that soon :) Happy Wednesday!

I need this. NEED IT! I have to say: isn't Michigan the "cutest" state? Or maybe I'm biased. Anyways, great job!
You are awesome. I love how your ornament came out. I also figured out a way to do the same thing with a canning jar lid...more to come soon!
I hope they liked their ornament, too. :)
I was also smitten with Chris' idea. LOVE the ornament.
xoxo
I think MI is the cutest state too! love this and great job!
This is so sweet- what a thoughtful gift to make!!
Seriously Gwen you need an Etsy shop for all your awesome hoop creations...they would fly out of your shop! You could call it Hoop-la ;)
I am completely in love. What a fabulous idea to do where you were married instead of where you live.
It's such a cool idea in the first place and the marriage slant shows how versatile it is. So great Gwen!
I love this idea SO much. I wish I lived in a state whose outline was more exciting... Utah is one of the most boring (shaped) states in the nation!
This would be fun to do a series, too, if you've lived in different states. Maybe someday we will live in a more excitingly shaped state... :)
That is so fabulous. I love this idea. Thanks for the inspiration. This is my first visit to your special space, I will follow on my way out as I am sure I will enjoy engaging and supporting your special place now I have found you,I hope you will find the some time to come visit me some time. Cheers SpecialK XoXo
The hoop turned out amazing, I loved Chris' tutorial and your interpretation of it. This is a very special gift. How exciting - 2 years old, what a milestone, enjoy your celebrations.
What a fun wedding present! I just love that idea. You make the best presents.
I love this, as a Michigander I may have to make my own :) It would be fun to add a little heart approximately where we live.
