Commuter Cowl

A few weeks ago, Shannon from luvinthemommyhood came out with her first sewing pattern The Commuter Cowl. I finally sat down and sewed one up yesterday afternoon...

I cut up a scarf that I bought at Target a few months ago. I didn't like the tassels on the ends of the scarf, but I did like the print, so I decided to use it to try out this pattern. The fabric is very thin – like a cotton lawn – so this version ended up being less structured. It's more of the necklace look. It's such a neat design, with two knots and lots of options for changing the look of it.

Shannon's directions are really clear and detailed. This came together super quick, and for me to say that – as slow a sewist as I am – that's saying something. I highly recommend this pattern, and next time I'm going to try a more structured look with a heavier weight fabric. Can't wait!

I think this looks lovely on you. I wish I liked things around my neck...but I don't. :)

That is really cute - maybe I'll make one for *next* winter since it was 87 here yesterday :-( And no, I do not live at the beach.

So lovely Gwen. Your fabric choice is perfect too (as always, eh?)

Happy Easter, by the way!

It's really pretty. I love the colors, and the light weight of the fabric will make it more versatile for the coming summer months. :)

LOVE your version. Think I must make one. I always wear a cowl or thin scarf.
